Kayleigh Will Be Two!

Our sweet baby girl (well, depends what mood you catch her in) is turning two in 14 more days! Has it really been two years since we made that call to the midwife?? It doesn't seem that long ago... 

Now, she is my walking, running, talking, screaming, happy, healthy, tiny little girl.

Considering that I thought for SURE I'd have all boys before having kids, I sure do LOVE having a little girl! It's a whole different world... One I didn't think I'd be much good at since I was such a tom-boy as a kid. I liked playing with boys more and when I started babysitting I always knew how to entertain and play with the boys better. I thought I wouldn't know how to handle having a little girl of my own or how to play all the "girly" things and games with her. But, this Mama jumped on that pink girly train the day she was born! We've been bringing on the flowers, bows, baby dolls and all that cute girly fashion in full force the last 2 years. Turns out I'm not too bad at this girl thing.☺

Kayleigh is talking much more these days. If, you're lucky enough to understand her, you might have a very nice and slightly broken up little conversation with her. Funny enough, Ian can typically understand her better than anyone in the family right now. Kayleigh will be saying a word repeatedly at me and I keep making guesses to what she is saying, when Ian suddenly speaks up and says the word I cannot figure out. Kayleigh then nods in approval to what her brother has just said. Victor and I both agree that Ian was talking more and much clearer at this age, but we don't suspect she is behind at all. Ian was just very advanced in vocabulary and communication at his age. I remember his doctor being very impressed with his communication at 18 months and even made a note of it in his chart haha! I've been told by lots of Moms lately that each child down the line tends to talk later and later than their older siblings. Simply due to the fact that everyone else in the family is doing the talking, so they don't feel the need to talk as much.

I LOVE that Kayleigh will play on her own and remain entertained with her toys all by herself when her brother is not around to intrude on her space or take her toys. I have been trying to keep them seperated as much as possible lately. If I don't, I can't be out of the room for more than a minute before Kayleigh screams bloody murder because brother is too close, touching her toys, taking her toys or distracting her from her current plan. Ian to this day is not an easily self entertained child. He always wants me to watch him build/crash/color/draw/zoom/jump etc... at every second I can spare. It's just always been his nature to crave the attention. As a baby, a toddler and now a preschooler that part of his personality has not changed. Finding things to honestly keep him busy on his own are very challenging, but I'm trying to come up with new ways to keep him busy and challenged throughout the day. Kayleigh on the other hand, was such an EASY going baby and when she is by herself she is the same way as a 2 year old (okay soon to be 2 year old).

I caught a great moment the other day when Ian invited Kayleigh to sit on the couch and "read" a library book with him. He "read" her the story to the best of his memory and acted it out so good. Kayleigh sat next to him and listened and then she would point to a picture in the book and he would tell her what or who the picture was of. It only last that one book and then there was chaos when Kayleigh wanted a different book next and Ian only wanted to read her Where's Waldo... Then, the screaming ensued and Ian threatened "You can have this story Kayleigh or none at all!" (whoops, where did he learn that one you suppose?). Oh well, it was one adorable moment while it lasted!


I love my independent girl and cannot believe she will be 2! I feel so blessed that God gave me the gift a little girl and a boy! I get to experience both worlds! It is definitely crazy and they can be SO different, but I feel blessed to experience both.

I suppose I should give an update on baby number 3! Well, the ultrasound says it's more than likely a...

Yup, I'm going to have 2 girls! Kayleigh will have a sister and Ian gets a second sister. Now, he still wants a boy and claims it's still a boy... but, he will be a good big brother again, regardless if he gets his wish or not. He also says if it's a boy he wants to name him Hunter. We already decided on Dillon before we knew the gender, but maybe Dillon Hunter??? As far as girl names go, we have two top runners finally. Bristol or Savannah... But, who knows if we will stumble on one more we may agree on.

This baby is ACTIVE and STRONG and reminds me much more of Ian in the womb... Lord help this Mama if I have a female version of my crazy boy. I can already imagine them teaming up later in life to cause a ruckus...

I have a midwife appointment next week and the wonderful glucose test is what I get to look forward too. I am getting so excited for another home birth!

Ian - Some Exciting News in His Life

Wow, I just posted something I wrote in January, picked up on in April and NEVER published... whoops!! Well, I think life is busier than I thought it would be with two kids under age 5.

Speaking of crazy, I'm 18 weeks pregnant with our THIRD child!! Now, that IS crazy! Haha. As if life isn't busy, messy, hectic, crazy and funny enough with two kids, we had a harebrained idea to throw one more into the mix. But, as time goes on in this pregnancy I am getting more and more excited. I started feeling the baby move about 3 weeks ago (speaking of, someone is moving right now) and that is one of my favorite parts of pregnancy! I feel so happy that I get to do this one more time. (Really, this is the LAST one, we swear this time!) We have our 19 weeks ultrasound in 5 days and will hopefully be finding out if the last munchkin is boy or girl. I've toyed with the idea of keeping it a surprise, but unless the baby crosses its legs shut, I'm sure we will be finding out.

Well, the reason I got on here to update this wonderful blog is because something very exciting happened tonight! Ian said a prayer to ask Jesus into his heart before bed tonight! I am one happy happy Mama. I don't know if he'll really remember this night by the time he is 10 or even 20 (I know i don't remember when I prayed the prayer. I was around his age I believe), but I do know that he understands enough to know about Christ's forgiveness, death, and resurrection for us. His favorite story in his Bible is about Christ's death and resurrection and has been for quite a few months. But, what really prompted me asking him if he wanted to personally pray if Jesus would live in his heart is something he told me in the bath tonight. I was done washing him and Kayleigh up and watching them play in the tub. Ian then tells me he had a dream about us and God. I was very intruiged (he has been having so many vivid dreams the past month or so and LOVES to tell me about. And some he explains the scenery in great detail) and so I asked him what the dream was about. He says, "God was just walking with us on the sidewalk on the way to heaven." Even though it sounds so simple, something struck me spiritually on this... this was more than just a kids dream. I was struck with a bit of joy knowing he had such a vision. I smiled really and big and said, "Really?? That's sounds awesome." He said "Yeah, it was. (very nonchalantly) And I had another dream that Jesus was just on a really winding path into my heart." Woah! Now, this mama was super excited! I told him that was so cool. We have talked a lot about Jesus living in our hearts this year, especially around VBS week this summer. I told him we could talk about how to ask Jesus to live in our hearts at bedtime.

 He also mentioned something a few minutes later that tore at my heart a bit. He said when we were walking with God we passed outside the girls' house (these are the two girls I watched last school year ages 7 and 10 now). Like, did we leave them behind?? The girls' parents and the girls themselves are really into ummm... Halloween and just dumb spooky supernatural shows and things I think most 6 and 9 year olds shouldn't be THAT into... I always tried to shy them away from that kind of stuff, but I got the hint that the parents liked that stuff and wanted the girls to like it too. I feel I need to set up another hang out day with them ASAP and just not lose contact with them.

Fast forward to bedtime!

I asked him if he had ever asked Jesus into his heart before. To which he said "No, I don't think so." I asked Ian if he wanted Jesus to live in his heart and help him make good choices in life. To which he nodded his head yes. I said, "Okay! This is a big decision! We need to ask Jesus to forgive us for any of the wrong things we have done, so he can make our hearts clean and pure for Jesus to come live in!" He asks me, "What does pure mean?" I told him it means clean, nothing dirty. I told him when we sin or do something wrong that Jesus wouldn't like, it makes our heart not clean and pure anymore. So, we need to ask God to make it pure and clean by forgiving our sins. He says "Oh!" Haha. I said, "Are you ready to make your heart clean and ask Jesus to live in your heart and help you make good choices so we can go live with Him in heaven someday?" To which he replies "Yes!" So, he repeated Mommy's version of the Sinner's prayer and asked Jesus into his heart tonight! Right after he starts feeling around his chest and says "I don't think I feel him... Oh! There He is! I think he is in my heartbeat right here." I laughed of course... I love the touch and flare a 4 1/2 year old can add to something like Jesus living IN our hearts. We'll explain that a bit better tomorrow maybe... I just had to get all this out in writing before I forgot the fun details of this amazing night. My first born baby, asked Jesus into his life (as simplistic as it may be to him at the moment, I know this is a defining moment that will guide the steps he takes later in life) and I am overjoyed!

Will Time Ever Slow Down??

Well, I am just posting a blog I wrote back in January! Haha. NOW, my Son is 4, my daughter is 16 months and I am turning 25 tomorrow! Life just keeps passing faster and faster!

Let's see...
Ian is so smart he impresses me most of the time! He can sound out some basic words and count to ehhh 15 haha. He starts jumping numbers after that. But, he does simple addition and subtraction and learned how to count by two's by himself! Not the typical 2,4,6,8 though. He has asked me how to count by two's out of curiosity a few times and I counted just like that. Well, about a month later he comes to me and says, "hey Mom, I can count by two's!" I say, "wow, you can? Let me hear!". To which he starts "1" and I giggle a bit in my head... He continues, "3... 5..." I am thinking what?!? where did he pick this up?? "7... 9... 11..." At this point I shout out "Wow!! That is excellent work! Where did you learn that??" In typical Ian fashion he replies "I just already knew". Haha I love this boy!

Victor and I both agree he should be in a play! His facial expressions and "dance moves" are one of a kind. I love it the most when he sings along to a song on the radio or itunes he's never heard before. This kid is full of life and energy and EMOTIONS! He is definitely one to fly by every emotion he feels and in a toddler's day that is a lot of emotions! But, even though I get pooped from the emotional roller coaster we take, I love the funny moments and sweet moments. For instance, we had a bathroom cleaning day a couple weeks ago and I was having Ian help me scrub around the toilets, sinks, floors etc... and as we are spraying and scrubbing pee that has made it to places that shouldn't be possible, he turns to me, puts his hand on my shoulder and says "You're a good Mommy, I love you." Now, if that doesn't melt your heart, I don't know what would!

Kayleigh... oooh my sweet screaming bundle of girliness! Everyone talks about the volume and decibel level little girls can hit... They weren't kidding!! Ian is such a loud kid and always was as a baby too, I though it doesn't get much louder than him. Think again! My girl can hit levels that can shatter glass! Haha. If her brother is blocking her way, getting too close to her toys or sometimes if she is just REALLY happy, PUT IN YOUR EARPLUGS! I now understand what people have said in the past about little girls volume levels :)

The biggest changes with my girl in the last few months are finally some more words, NO ear infections since seeing her chiropractor, and really seeing her personality come to life! She says, "eat", "baba", "Daddy", "Mommy", "baby", "cheese", "stad"(outside), "Hi-ee" (hi), "ny-ny" (night night)... That's all I can think of that she uses regularly.

She loves being outside, going down slides and being pushed in the swings! This girl is much like her brother and has no fear! I think we have 2 definite future roller coaster riders in our house! She is also finally growing more hair! It's still not much, but it doesn't stop me from doing pigtails and putting bows in her hair....

Kayleigh Turned One!

Well, I am late as usual, but on Thanksgiving Kayleigh turned one! The time is going too fast as usual and i officially have a toddler in the house again.

She took her first steps barely a month prior to turning one, almost the exact same age as Ian did as a baby. She has learned to throw full blown tantrums almost 2 months earlier than Ian did though... Can't say I'm excited about that milestone... Her newest thing this month has been giving kisses to everyone and her baby dolls.

The only words she says right now are "dada", "mama", "this", "that", "uh-oh", "ow", and "Titus" (pronounced "tice"). She has been saying "dough" a lot the past few days, but I can't figure out if it is corresponded to anything.

Her hair is long enough to put in pig tails in the back and it is nothing less than adorable! Now, I have always said I wanted her to have soft curly hair and well, she gets one to two soft curls right in the back of her neck! The hair behind her ears is straight and everywhere else, but I'm cherishing her too adorable curls she does have!

Sometime in the last month she has popped through three of her 4 molars without me knowing it! I knew she was teething due to restless nights and serious finger chewing, but I didn't expect to find all those molars when I stuck my finger back there a couple weeks ago!

She had a party the week before Thankgiving and got lots of girly toys! Seems so weird to have baby dolls and tea sets around, not just cars, balls and guns. Bring on the tutu's and princess stuff, I'm ready for all this girls stuff! At her party she she barely ate her cupcake or pumpkin pie... She just kept poking them. Lots of people showed up to celebrate this sweet girl's birthday and it was a fun time.

Kayleigh's 1st Birthday!

October Fun!

Well... it has been WAY too long since I have blogged about anything. But, my In-Laws are officially back in Arizona today for the next 5-6 months and this is one of the only ways they see updated pictures of the kids, so I need to get back with it! These aren't new photos, just what I have from October. (mainly Halloween)

Can I just say I had the cutest calf ever and one adorable spider man too! We went trick or treating at Grandma and Grandpa's First and then went over to our friend's house to trick or treat in their neighborhood. Ian and Maika had a blast and got a ton of candy! Well, I am not the biggest fan of candy for my 3 year old and especially in the volume that you collect it on Halloween, SO I came up with a new plan starting this year. We had the Pumpkin Fairy visit Ian this year, she is a very nice fairy who asks certain little boys and girls for help on Halloween night. Her town is made from candy and she needs help to build her town from the boys and girls who got so much candy while trick or treating. She is a very nice fairy though and will exchange you a very neat surprise for your help. Ian was allowed to pick his 10 favorite pieces and then we left his bucket at the end of his bed for the Pumpkin Fairy to pick up. Well, she was VERY nice and left Ian a Cars 2 spy airplane! He was absolutely thrilled the following morning and still had candy to munch on later that day, so it was a win - win situation in our house!

My Baby is Crawling! (Here we go again!)

As of yesterday Kayleigh took her first crawls forward! She's been scootin' backwards for a couple weeks, but she finally figured out her forward momentum. My baby is growing up! Here's a video of her crawling last night.
