Well, I have a 2 year old and and a very soon to be 5 year old! This Holiday season flew by faster thani imagined. I loved both of the kids going bonkers over Christmas lights, decorating the house for Christmas, getting our tree and then burning our tree haha. Kids make the Christmas season so much more fun! Kayleigh, became thoroughly acquainted with the words candy cane, snowman, reindeer, and Santa very quicky and still squeals them out loud in delight if she sees any of them at the store or around town.
Christmas morning was great and the kids got too much stuff, as usual. Ian didn't even realize the bike in front of the tree was a new one until we pointed it out to him! He looked at it and asked if he got a new pouch with cones (attached to the front of the bike) and we told him he got a whole new bike and it was bigger! He immediately started noticing all the differences and inspected it from front to back and mentioned all the newer cooler features! We had to ask him if he wanted to take it for a spin haha, I think he was a bit shocked we were going to let him ride it in the house! After the bike a bike run through his new cones ( which he thinks is the most awesome part of his new bike) it was present commencement time! Although it was fun watching them open everything up, I think my favorite parts were when Kayleigh started screeching "iPad, iPad, iPad" (the first present she genuinely got excited about) when she opened her new InnoTab 2... Ian came running over to check it out and said "she got a number 2 iPad!! Awww, I wish I had a number 2 iPad..." All while holding his wrapped new InnoTab 2 in his hands without knowing haha. I told him he should open his present up and then he started to hoop and holler about his InnoTab 2. Grandma and Grandpa spoiled em' rotten!
Victor and I had made the deal we made last year, which was no presents for either of us, just the kids. We always want things too expensive to buy all at one time of year and Christmas is more about the kids. WELL, my husband completely broke our deal... First, he filled my stocking with all sorts of goodies (gloves, chocolate, hair clips, earrings, ear muffs etc...) and THEN, he managed to sneak a rather huge boxed gift u der the tree without me knowing! Apparently, he woke up at 3 am and snuck it under the tree... I have no idea where it was hiding before that and he refuses to tell. Near the end of the kids opening their presents, victor points to the big present under the tree and says who's that for? I didn't recognize the wrapping paper, so I assumed it was one of the kids gifts from Vic and Doris. I was still helping Kayleigh a bit and said it must be one of the kids... When he pulled it out i read the red envelope with my name on it... I immediately looked at him and said, "No you didn't!" Haha. He totally broke our agreement! I was a bit in shock to say the least... I opened my card to find $50 to my favorite make up store Sephora! Then, opened my gift to find a Vitamix 6300!!! I have been talking about a Vitamix for 8 months and my hubby not only got me one in red, but he got me the upgraded model with preset functions, bigger recipe book and a stronger motor!! Shocked is definitely an understatement... I don't know what I did to be deserving of such an expensive gift, but since I love it so much, I won't question it! I will brag that yesterday was the first day I haven't used it since Christmas! I've made two different kinds of soups, lots of smoothies, coffee drinks, ice cream, sorbet and salsa! Tonight I am finally going to make homemade peanut butter! This thing is amazing! I will probably splurge and by the dry blade container sometime very soon :-)
Needless to say, all bets and deals are off next year!!
We had a really nice Christmas dinner at my long time friend's house down in Chehalis. She was my first Piano teacher when I was young and has known me since I was 4. She is my Auntie Marion these days and has grand kids the same age as Ian and Kayleigh. The food was so delicious and she pulled out all her fine china and crystal to serve us in style! We got to relax in her beautiful Victorian home and eat way too much food. Lots of fun and a wonderful Christmas all around.
We didn't do anything for new year's except stay up to watch the space needle fireworks :-) Now, I have to get my rear in gear and plan some sort of party for Ian before this baby comes! He won't stop talking about his Birthday and telling people he turns 5 on "Jan-you-wary" 23rd! I can't believe it has almost been 5 years since I woke up on Victor's birthday at 2:30 am telling Victor I thought I was having contractions... Who knew it'd be a long grueling 21 more hours before he finally made his entrance at 11:09pm! Who knew how much work and energy that little boy would be to this day haha.
He also can't stop telling people he is learning to read! He is very proud of that and so am I! I didn't think in less than two months he could be reading so well! He is so smart, it blows me away sometimes. Okay, most of the time...
So, besides feeling totally unprepared for a newborn in 5 weeks (technically baby would be safe to come in 2 weeks!!) I am finally cracking down on the potty training with Kayleigh! I found out today she does excellent if you keep her naked from the waist down! We'll see how much she can conquer in these next few weeks, because I do not want a diaper bill x2!
